Sunset on 14,265' Quandary Peak's North face paired with a meadow of yellow paintbrushes. August 2020.
Sunset on one of my long time favorite spots in the Ten Mile Range, Colorado. Fall has come early this year with most colors around the county peaking already, but my go to spot on this creek was a little behind the rest.
Sunset on Mount Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln and Bross through a veil of wildfire smoke from the 13,865' summit of neighboring centennial 13er Mt. Buckskin. The original plan was to go up Mt. Democrat for sunset, but I was turned away upon reaching the trailhead by Park County Search and Rescue as they worked to retrieve the body of a man who had just died on Mount Cameron from a heart attack. I decided to go up centennial 13er Mt. Buckskin instead as I was already at the trailhead ready to go. These 14ers look better from afar anyway. The smoke was pretty nasty and I'm still not really thrilled to have breathed all of that in, I'm especially glad I took a little rest from hiking while our mountains were super smoky recently because that isn’t good to be breathing consistently.
